0331 Christian County Parade

One week reported in the bottom 5 of schools in the state academically, the next week wins state basketball tournament. Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? What's causing the difference? Leadership. If the school had the same caliber person as principal as it does basketball coach, we would have something of which we could really be proud. Oh well, we have to take what we can get and if basketball championship is what we can get, that's it. Congratulations Colonels.

0330 Libya

I think we should approach Libya with some caution before we wind up in another Iraq. Giving weapons to Libyans may be putting weapons in the hands of people that can cause us more damage than good. I say let's bomb and strafe the Libyan army until we have reduced the weapons the army has to the same level the rebels have. The French seem to be willing to send their planes in to do the dirty work so let 'em go.  Otherwise, the rebels are up against a well trained army and the rebels have no training. They can't win even with better weapons because they don't know how or where to use them.

0330 Shoe Laces

I have been trying to find some replacement shoe laces. I've been to every store I suspect would sell them. Many stores sell them but the styles and colors are limited. Walmart and Kroger had the most but they didnt even come close to what I wanted to match my old ones.

Anybody got any ideas?

0328 Ever have a bad day?

The good people of japan can claim the record for the worst bad days in history. First it was the atomic bomb day in 1945. Then came the most recent one. An earthquake, a Tsunami and a nuclear meltdown, all in the same day. Wow.

I was worried when the Russians had a nuclear meltdown because the Russians aren't very creative. I am much more confident the Japanese will handle theirs without too much damage being done. I predict they will have new nuclear plants to replace the broken ones in record time.

0524 Good Attitude

I had occasion to visit a military family that just moved to Hoptown. I asked why they picked Hoptown over Clarksville. The answer was simple. We just didn't like the atmosphere over there. They have a lot of problems and we didn't want to expose our family to those problems. Hoptown is much safer and it's a nice place to live with ordinary people. We like it here and so do a lot of our friends.

It looks like things might be turning left after all. I was pleased with the conversation and glad to see some young people moving in for a change. Hopefully we can continue to draw the settled soldiers vs the wild sided ones that are so prevalent in Clarksville.

0324 Bottomed Out

Word is there will be another announcement of expansions at two of our current factories. We have lost over 3000 jobs but we have to start somewhere in getting them back. This is as good as any and beats doing nothing. Clarksville lost a printing plant that employed 700 people but they have a plant coming on line to get those jobs back. It takes jobs to make a community stable and growing. We could use a couple of thousand about right now.

0305 School Days

Anyone taking bets on when the state takes over CCHS? There are no discipline problems and every child will get a diploma so sounds like a good fairy tale where everyone lives happily ever after. NOT!!! when did CCHS troubles begin. I have talked to people who went there in the 80's and it was apparently a pretty good school as public schools go. But now those same people are almost apologetic about their Alma Mater. What happened? There has to be a reason for everything.
