0523 Where will they park?

I have no opposition to Mayor Kemp's idea of moving city hall down town but where will the users and visitors of city hall park. Assuming some of the new businesses succeed, parking is going to be a problem for them. Throw in City Hall and you've got a parking nightmare.

0523 We're still here!!!

Depite the prediction of the end of the world we're still here. Just goes to show you how strong human beings are when faced with the end. Of course, there was the tornado in Joplin but it's a long way from the end of the world unless you were in Joplin. It's not clear what the preacher will come up with next but it probably won't merit a movie being made about it.

0515 Municipal Building

The Planning Commission has just about taken over the municipal building so where is there space left for the police department?  I don't disagree with the move but I'm hard pressed to see how the police can find room in the municipal building for their 88 person operation. One thing for sure. The HPD will be the coolest PD around. Remember the $1,000,000 air conditioner upgrade a couple of years back? I don't know where we are going to get 8.5 million dollars for this move when we can't pay the bills now. It's not that I'm against growth. On the contrary, I'm all for it if it is real growth but growth of government is not real growth to me. Let's think this thing through until we get more growth of business in the community to justify growth in government.

0515 Winter returns

As usual, the carnival at the mall parking lot has brought rain and cold weather to our area. It never fails. I think the mall owners should ban the carnival from using the parking lot. They can't be getting that much money out of the deal.

0505 Can we go now?

OK. He's dead. I'm happy that he and his money can no longer have the organization they have had for years. So can we move out of Afghanistan now and quit spending tax dollars over there. Talk about balancing the budget. Getting our troops home is the quickest way there is to balance the budget. I hope we made a deal to get some of that Iraqi oil at a bargain price in return for all the money we have poured down that rat hole.

I can't believe it took 10 years to track down one guy, but I said from day one we should let the CIA handle the search and keep the troops out of the way. In the end the CIA did its job and with the aid of the SEALS brought the criminal to justice. The troops nearly destroyed two countries we will have to rebuild with taxpayers money.

I think some of the media is being over zealous in coverage of the event when they show pictures of 3 dead guys who just happened to get in the way. All the blood and gore in the up close pictures is too much for me. It has no meaning. Just like when they showed Saddam's sons a few years back. We don't need to see them lying in pools of blood. I believe the SEALS when they say the guys are dead. I don't have to be shown.

Anyway, I'm glad bin laden is gone.
